Mormon Website Lists 9 Wives for Joseph Smith

“A bishop then must be blameless, THE HUSBAND OF ONE WIFE, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach” (1st Timothy 3:2)

“Let the deacons be the husbands of ONE WIFE, ruling their children and their own houses well.” (1st Timothy 3:12)

I checked out the official LDS genealogy website (familysearch.org) and looked up for information on Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism.  In the search boxes I put in “Joseph Smith” for the name, “Carthage” for place of death and the dates 1805 to 1844.

FamilySearch1Here’s what I found:

FamilySearch2Familysearch3Familysearch4A few months ago I noticed this article which mentioned 40 wives:

The Book of Mormon condemns polygamy very clearly : “Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none. ” (Jacob 2:27) Mormon missionaries want you to accept the Book of Mormon but even their own prophet didn’t take the Book of Mormon seriously because he rejected for example its condemnation of polygamy and also its clear teaching on the eternality and the triune nature of God.
